Department of Veterans Affairs Education Benefits
The OU College of Professional and Continuing Studies is committed to helping veterans, active duty personnel, and dependents to utilize their G.I. Bill® education benefits. Our Certification and Compliace staff members provide students with helpful VA education benefit information, certify students’ courses for payment by the VA, and act as a liaison for the student to VA Education.

Apply for Department of Veterans Affairs Education Benefits
Students who have not yet applied for VA benefits can apply here, https://www.vets.gov/education/apply/.
Students who have used their benefits in the past will need to update their application with a VA Form 22-1995. It can be found here, https://www.vabenefits.vba.va.gov.

Provide a copy of your GI Bill® Certificate of Eligibility to Veteran Student Services (VSS). Scan and email to veterans@ou.edu, send by mail, or visit Buchanan Hall, Rm. 216.

How to Request Certification for Payment by the VA
Submit your Veterans Course Confirmation Form. This form can be found at one.ou.edu under the Resources page. Complete this form every semester you want to use your benefit. Once submitted, forms route through our online course approval process in the order they were received. After Veteran Student Services certifies your approved courses, the VA may take an additional 30 - 45 days for processing before release of benefit payments.
Login to one.ou.edu with your OUNetID (4+4) and password. Choose Resources>Financial>Veterans Course Confirmation.
Tips for using this system:
- If you click on the star found next to the Veteran Course Confirmation Form, it will rise to the top of your screen so you will not need to look for it the next time you use it.
- Use the Veteran Course Confirmation Form every semester you want to use your VA benefit at OU.
- Save any emails you receive from veterans@ou.edu. If we send alert emails to students, it is information you need to be aware of.
If Veteran Student Services needs any other information or documentation from you to certify for Summer 2022 or Fall 2022 courses, we will contact you by phone or the email address you provide in the Veteran Course Confirmation Form.
Certifications are submitted to the VA starting at the beginning of each semester. If a request is received prior to the start of the semester, the request will be held until it can be processed. For additional assistance with this process, please contact our office by email at veterans@ou.edu.
