Dr. Shad Satterthwaite is the associate dean of OU Extended Campus. Before coming to OU Extended Campus, he served as OU’s equal opportunity officer, assistant to the president, and as assistant vice president for Continuing Education Academic Programs. He has also taught numerous political science courses at OU, managed the university’s faculty-in-residence program, and served as an adjunct faculty member.
Dr. Satterthwaite is a colonel in the Army Reserve and has served two tours in Afghanistan. He is currently assigned to the U.S. Army War College. He has been named Foundation for Defense of Democracies Academic Fellow and the President’s Distinguished Faculty Mentoring Program Outstanding Mentor as well as receiving the UOSA’s Outstanding Faculty Award in addition to other awards.
In addition to his many professional achievements, Dr. Satterthwaite has also published a variety of articles, papers, and other works, focusing mostly on political science, public administration, education, and history. He is an accomplished presenter and has participated on a variety of committees and other groups while at OU. He has also served as an ex officio member of the Executive Committee of the Southwest Center for Human Relations Studies.
Dr. Satterthwaite is involved in the community, serving on the Board of Directors, Last Frontier Council with the Boy Scouts of America; with WATCHDOG at Monroe Elementary School; with Leadership Norman, Class of 2014; and as Cross Country Booster Club President at Norman High School.
