What is the FAFSA?

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is your gateway to getting the financial assistance you need to complete your college degree. The FAFSA can qualify you for scholarships and student loans.

The FAFSA opens every October 1. Be sure to apply early to ensure prompt processing. 

It doesn’t cost anything to fill out a FAFSA and usually takes less than an hour to complete. Remember, in order to receive aid you must have full and clear admission into the program. 

What Do You Need to File a FAFSA?

  • FSA ID, which you'll create at fsaid.ed.gov
  •  OU Federal School Code: 003184
  •  Social Security number
  •  Driver's license
  •  Bank statements
  •  W-2 forms and tax returns from two years ago. You may use an estimated income; however, OU may require you to verify your income.
