Effects of Sodium Nitrite H2S Scavengers on Cryogenic Gas Processing Plants
Robert Cotton, Lane Wise, Matt Wall - EagleClaw Midstream

The use of sodium nitrite H2S scavengers at upstream facilities can lead to the deposition of ammonium salts in the downstream cryogenic gas processing plants.

Alternate Heat Exchanger Designs for the Gas Conditioning Business
Bryan Evans - Gulf Coast Engineered Solutions, Inc.

Examination of modifications to the conventional styles of exchangers in gas conditioning applications, as well as a consideration of alternate heat exchanger styles for these applications.

Detecting Water-Related Issues in Sulfur Recovery Units (SRU)
Loraine Huchler - MarTech Systems, Inc.; Elmo Nasato - Nasato Consulting Ltd.

Insights about early warning signs of water-related failures in SRU’s, proactive monitoring practices, practical operating strategies, corrective actions, robust water-side design and the importance of inspections.

The Color of Hydrogen
Michael Goff - Black & Veatch; Dan McCartney

There is increasing interest in the production of lower carbon intensity hydrogen production. A high-level overview of technologies and “color” designation will be discussed.

Acid Base Chemistry Implications for Alkanolamine Gas Treating
Steven Fulk, Kevin Fisher, Clay Jones, Trimeric Corporation

A review of important acid-base reactions in gas treating covering normal acid gas reactions and the influence of stronger acids, such as heat stable salts.

Continuous Monitoring and Troubleshooting of Cryogenic NGL Recovery Plants Using Dynamic Process Sim
Tim Yearous, Sjoerd Hoogwater - DCP Midstream

Continuously running dynamic process simulations provide operators guidance during changing conditions and give valuable insights into operations, bottlenecks, equipment health and optimization opportunities.

Fundamental On-Site Lab Instruments and Equipment for Natural Gas Processing Facilities
Bill Chu, Kaitlyn Gammon, Farzad Yazdanbakhsh - Tartan Energy Group, Inc.; William Acevedo, Stephen Brown - Petronas Canada; Mike Sheilan - Sulphur Experts, Inc.

Properly equipping a gas processing facility with necessary instruments, tools and equipment to provide critical on-site results for amines and glycols, to mitigate process challenges.

Design Tips for Dehydrating CO2 with Glycol
Paul  Carmody - OTSO Energy Solutions, LLC

Glycol dehydration of gas with CO2 as its principal constituent is examined. Issues concerning water content, physical properties, corrosion and material selection are explored.

Why Sulphur Plants Fail
Gerald Bohme - Sulphur Experts, Inc.

A ranking of the most common failure mechanisms seen in the sulphur recovery industry based on 30+ years of Sulphur Experts’ incident investigations.

Measuring Kinetics of COS removal with Alkanolamines
Melerin Madekufamba, Nancy Chou, Robert A. Marriott; Kevin. L. Lesage - Alberta Sulphur Research

A literature review on kinetics of reaction for COS in alkanolamines is presented. New measurements on kinetics of COS removal with alkanolamines will be discussed.

RapAdsorbTM: Compact Adsorption-Based Gas Treating Technology
Bryan Sutphen, Chien-Chiang Chen, Eduardo Venturini, Mark Mikhaeil, Justin Federici, Michelle Dose, Rodrigo Blanco-Gutierrez - ExxonMobil

This paper will provide a brief overview on the RapAdsorbTM technology platform, key technology enablers, scale-up approach and data from the field research unit.

On-line Monitoring of Trace H2O Using Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS) to Optimize Recovery of Natural Gas Liquids
Greg Lankford, Xiang (Sherry) Liu, Sam Miller - Endress + Hauser

Molecular sieve dehydration produces very low H2O concentration for NGL extraction and LNG production. Explores the application of TDLAS for measuring moisture at process outlet.

Consider Hazards of CO2 and H2S for CCS
Darryl Mamrosh, Kenneth McIntush, Joseph Lundeen, Carrie Ann Beitler - Trimeric Corporation; Kirby Tyndall - Bullock, Bennett, and Associates, LLC

Health hazards of CO2 and H2S in CCS are reviewed, and conditions are presented where CO2 is the predominant concern when both gases are present.

Alkanolamines – What Is Next?
Joern Rolker, Joe Lally - Evonik Corp

TAA-derivatives are a unique chemistry that challenges the established alkanolamines in acid gas removal applications with a higher chemical stability and acid gas loadings.

A Hybrid Process for Deep Purification of CO2 Captured from Pre-/Post-Combustion Applications
Gokhan Alptekin, Jerrod Hohman, Freya Kugler - SulfaTrap LLC

A hybridized process is developed for deep purification of carbon dioxide captured from pre- and post-combustion applications to meet pipeline transport requirements.

Low-Cost Reduction of Oxygen Enables Operators to Reduce VOC and GHG Emissions.
Gregory Cenac - GCO, LLC

This paper presents a novel ambient temperature catalytic converter technology for inexpensive oxygen removal in vapor capture systems, including development, installation, prototyping and field operating results.

POSTERS SELECTED FOR PRESENTATION

Effects of Packing Characteristics on Gas Treating Absorber Performance
Ralph Weiland, Nathan Hatcher, Simon Weiland - Optimized Gas Treating, Inc.

Operating costs and change-out frequency of solid removal devices is an ongoing industry concern. A case-study of how media velocity was used to reduce operating costs is presented.

Optimization of NGL Treating
Matt Thundyil, Dave Seeger, Eric McIntosh - Transcend Solutions, LLC

Amine treated NGL typically experiences amine contamination. Downstream molecular sieve deactivates due to amine. Bed cycle length improvement is shown with improved amine removal.

SourCatTM Sulfur Recovery for Acid Gas and Remnant Gas Streams
Paul Dimick, Kylie Minor, Harrison Wright, Rafael Cohen, Megan Evans, Steven Kevorkian - IntraMicron, Inc.

SourCatTM was successfully demonstrated on a remnant gas stream from RNG Production. Implications for remnant gas and acid gas treatment will be discussed.
