Undergraduate and Graduate Scholarships

Startup Scholarship

Who it’s for: Undergraduate and graduate students in their first semester at PACS

When to apply: July 28 to September 7 (Fall); December 14 to January 22 (Spring)

Undergraduate Criteria: 

Students must meet all criteria to be eligible for consideration.

  • First semester in OU Extended Campus undergraduate program
  • Enrolled during awarding semester
  • Must have a minimum 2.75 GPA
  • Demonstrate financial need

Graduate Criteria

Students must meet all criteria to be eligible for consideration.

  • First semester in PACS graduate program
  • Enrolled during awarding semester
  • Must have a minimum 3.25 GPA
  • Demonstrate financial need

Each award is a tuition waiver that will be applied to your Bursar account. Four undergraduate students and two graduate students are chosen to receive the scholarship each fall and spring semester.

Alumni Scholarship

Who it’s for: Undergraduate and graduate students who have completed 12 hours or more at PACS

When to apply: July 28 to September 7 (Fall); December 14 to January 22 (Spring)

Undergraduate Criteria:

  • Must have at least 12 Extended Campus hours in the undergraduate program
  • Enrolled during awarding semester
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA in Extended Campus hours

  • Must have at least 12 Extended Campus hours in the graduate program
  • Enrolled during awarding semester
  • Must have a minimum 3.25 GPA in Extended Campus hours

Olga Theresa Broili Scholarship

Who it’s for: OU Extended Campus undergraduate and graduate students who are single mothers

When to apply: July 28 to September 7 

Undergraduate Criteria: 

Students must meet all criteria to be eligible for consideration.

  • Degree-seeking single mothers
  • Enrolled full-time during awarding semester
  • Undergraduates 3.0 GPA in at least 12 Extended Campus hours

Graduate Criteria

Students must meet all criteria to be eligible for consideration.

  • Degree-seeking single mothers
  • Enrolled full-time during awarding semester
  • Graduates 3.25 GPA in at least six Extended Campus hours

Quick facts: The Olga Theresa Broili scholarship was made possible by a gift from Dr. Gene Walker in honor of his mother. This scholarship helps single mothers with college expenses in the form of a $500 tuition waiver.

Awards are made based on merit and consideration of financial need and can only be received once per student.

OSHER Reentry Scholarship Tuition Waiver

Who it’s for: Undergraduate students returning to school after a five-year gap in their education (including the period of time between high school and college). Student must be pursuing their first degree and be taking at least 50% of their OU courses onsite.

When to apply: July 28 to September 7 

OSHER Criteria: 

The Osher Foundation set forth requirements to be eligible. Students must meet all criteria to be eligible for consideration.

  • Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA in previous coursework
  • At least five years out of school
  • Full-time or part-time enrollment
  • At least 50% of the awarding semester’s enrollment or at least 50% of the sum of previous OU enrollment, including the awarding semester, is in on-site or hybrid coursework
  • Demonstration of academic promise and commitment to obtaining an undergraduate degree
  • Demonstration of financial need
  • Student is expected to participate in the workforce following graduation

Quick facts: The Osher Reentry Scholarship Tuition Waiver, accepts applications each Fall semester, was established at OU in 2005 to help students who have experienced an interruption in their education. This tuition waiver awards students who have returned to finish their degree after an absence of five or more years. This tuition waiver is intended to benefit students who have considerable years of employability ahead of them—ideally aged 25 to 50.

Awards are made based on your financial need, academic promise, and evident commitment to completing the degree. If awarded, students may apply to receive the OSHER tuition waiver again. Please check our website to see if you qualify.

FBINAA Achievement Scholarship

Who it’s for: OU Extended Campus undergraduate and graduate students in law enforcement who went through the FBI National Academy Associates program. Applicants should be currently working in a criminal justice field, have completed a minimum number of hours in their PACS program (varies per degree level) and meet the minimum GPA requirements (3.25 for undergraduate students and 3.5 for graduates).

When to apply: July 28 to September 7 (Fall); December 14 to January 22 (Spring)

Undergraduate Criteria: 

Students must meet all criteria to be eligible for consideration.

  • Must be a graduate of the FBI National Academic Academy
  • Must be currently working in a criminal justice field
  • Must have completed at least 12 Extended Campus hours in the undergraduate program
  • Enrolled during awarding semester
  • Must have a minimum 3.50 GPA in PACS hours

Graduate Criteria

Students must meet all criteria to be eligible for consideration.

  • Must be a graduate of the FBI National Academic Academy
  • Must be currently working in a criminal justice field
  • Must have completed at least 12 Extended Campus hours in the graduate program
  • Enrolled during awarding semester
  • Must have a minimum 3.50 GPA in Extended Campus hours

Two $750 scholarships for OU Extended Campus undergraduate students and two $850 scholarships for PACS graduate students are awarded each year. Students may receive this scholarship only once.

A.R. Bert Larason Public Service Scholarship

Who it’s for: Undergraduate students who meet eligibility requirements

When to apply: July 28 to September 2 (Fall)

A.R. Bert Larason Public Service Scholarship Criteria

Students must meet all criteria to be eligible for consideration.

  • Applicants must be enrolled full time
  • Applicants must have a major course of study in Administrative Leadership, World Cultural Studies, Criminal Justice, Lifespan Care Administration, or Liberal Studies
  • Applicatnts must demonstrate leadership ability
  • Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or above
  • Applicants must be classified as seniors in the year of the award.  
  • Applicants from Oklahoma will be given preference, but all applicants will be considered.    

What it’s about: The A.R. Bert Larason Public Service Scholarship awards students who are pursuing degrees that involve social work. The scholarship was established by Margaret Larason, Timothy Larason, Anne Larason Schneider, and Linda Larason Edmondson to honor their husband and father, A.R. “Bert” Larason. Bert Larason was from Fargo, Oklahoma, and graduated from OU in 1930. The award can only be received once per student.

Tom Clark Scholarship

Who it’s for: Undergraduate Aviation students who meet eligibility requirements

When to apply: February or March (awarded in the Spring semester)

Scholarship Amount: $1,000

Requirements to Apply:

  • Minimum Overall 2.50 GPA.
  • Must be a Full-Time OU Aviation Major enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours
  • Leadership Activities and Need will be a factor when selecting the awardee.
  • No Scholarship can be awarded to or for the direct benefit of the Donor or any member of the immediate family of the Donor.
    Application Process:
  • Submit a resume (pilot’s format) and Cover Letter including your overall GPA.
  • Submit a brief narrative no longer than two typewritten pages expressing your aviation goals, career objective, why you feel you deserve the award, and how you will use it. 

Joe Coulter Scholarship

Who it’s for: Undergraduate Aviation students who meet eligibility requirements

When to apply: October and February/March (awarded in the Fall and Spring semesters)

Scholarship Amount: $1,000 (scholarship may be divided in half at the discretion of the selection committee)

Requirements to Apply:

  • Minimum Overall 2.80 GPA.
  • Declared Aviation Major for one year at OU.
  • Display leadership and initiative as evidenced by extracurricular activities, awards, & honors.
  • Flight fees cannot be covered by another scholarship.

Application Process:

  • Submit a resume (pilot’s format) including your overall GPA.
  • Submit a brief narrative expressing your aviation goals, career objective, why you feel you deserve the award and how you will use it.

Margie Richison Women’s Aviation Scholarship 

Who it’s for: Undergraduate Aviation students who meet eligibility requirements

When to apply: February or March (awarded in the Spring semester)

Scholarship Amount: $1,500 (flight fee waiver)

Requirements to Apply:

  • Must be a female student enrolled in the OU Aviation Program
  • Must be a holder of a Class III Medical at time of application
  • Must have completed a solo flight
  • Must not be the Donor or an immediate family member of the Donor

Application Process:

  • Submit a one to three page letter addressed to the “Margie Richison Women’s Aviation Scholarship Selection Committee” detailing your aviation goals and aspirations as well as any  other academic, athletic, career, professional, or other achievements to date. Please include any aviation experience and note why you feel deserving of the award and how it will be used.
  • Submit three letters of personal recommendation that attest to your character, integrity, and experience and be sure to include areas other than aviation. 

Flight Time Scholarship

Who it’s for: Undergraduate Aviation students who meet eligibility requirements

When to apply: October and February/March (awarded in the Fall and Spring semesters)

Scholarship Amount: $1,000 to assist OU Aviation Majors with the cost of flight training

Requirements to Apply:

  • Have completed one full year as an OU Aviation major
  • Be in good academic standing with a minimum 2.50 overall GPA, and a 3.00 major GPA
  • Sophomore through senior standing
  • High moral character with history of integrity
  • Flight fees cannot be covered by another scholarship or program
  • Professional Pilot or Aviation Management student currently enrolled in a credit flight course

Application Process:

  • Submit Pilot resume and one page essay describing why you wish to be a career pilot, and what you are passionate about outside of aviation.
  • Written letter from President of a student or volunteer organization you are currently involved with that describes the contributions you have made to that organization and how long you have been an active member.

Van Horn Scholarship

Who it’s for: Undergraduate Aviation students who meet eligibility requirements

When to apply: October and February/March (awarded in the Fall—two scholarships; Spring—two scholarships; and Summer—one scholarship)

Scholarship Amount: $500 Tuition Waiver to be applied towards flight fees at OU.

Requirements to Apply:

  • Minimum Overall 2.80 GPA.
  • Declared Aviation Flying Major for one year at OU, and enrolled in a credit flight course at time of application.
  • Display leadership and initiative as evidenced by extracurricular activities, awards, and honors.
  • Flight fees cannot be covered by another scholarship.

Application Process:

  • Submit a resume (pilot’s format) including your overall GPA.

Submit a brief narrative expressing your aviation goals, career objective, why you feel you deserve the award and how you will use it.

Winifred Adams Holland Scholarship

Who it’s for: Undergraduate Aviation students who meet eligibility requirements

When to apply: February/March and October

Requirements to Apply:

  • Minimum Overall 2.80 GPA, and a 3.00 Major GPA
  • Declared Aviation Major (flying or non-flying) for one year at OU.
  • Display leadership and initiative as evidenced by extracurricular activities, community service, awards and honors.

Application Process:

  • Submit a cover letter and resume including your overall GPA.
  • Submit a brief narrative detailing why you chose Aviation as your major and what short-term and long-term career goals are.
  • Provide at least three references and their contact information that can attest to your leadership potential and integrity.
