SJS Policies and Procedures

Sooner Jump Start students are expected to abide by the Academic Integrity Rules at the University of Oklahoma. These rules can be found by visiting the OU Office of Academic Integrity.

Payment Policy

Tuition and fee payment is due by the first day of class. Payment received after this day will be subject to a $200.00 late fee.

Refund Policy

All refunds will be returned to the original payer from the University of Oklahoma or the money in original payable currency will be returned to the student’s account which was used to pay the fees. All refunds will be executed within 45 days after a refund has been approved.  A student expelled from the University due to a student conduct violation may not receive a refund.

The entire SJS tuition and fees, excluding application fees, will be refunded if a student is denied a visa.  An official rejection letter from the Consulate must be provided to SJS in order for the refund to be approved.   The letter must be received by the second week of the program start date, which is the date of orientation.  Refunds requested after this date will exclude application fees and deposit.

The entire SJS tuition and fees, excluding application fees and deposit, will be refunded if a student provides written notice of their withdrawal from the SJS program within 30 days of the program start date, which is the date of orientation.  Students who do not arrive on campus and withdraw after this date will receive a refund, excluding application fees, deposit, and a $500.00 withdrawal fee.

  • If a student withdraws by providing written notice before the end of the fourth week of class (third week in the summer) of the first session, the student will receive a fifty percent (50%) refund of SJS tuition and fees, excluding application fees and deposit.
  • If a student withdraws by providing written notice during the fifth week of class (fourth week in the summer) and before the end of the first session, the student will receive a thirty percent (30%) refund of SJS tuition and fees, excluding application fees and deposit.
  • After this time period, there will be no refunds given.
  • If a student withdraws by providing written notice by the end of the second week (first week in the summer), the student will receive a fifty percent (50%) of SJS tuition and fees, excluding application fees and deposit.
  • If a student withdraws by providing written notice during the third week after semester start date (Fall/Spring/Summer) and before the fifth week (fourth week in the summer) of the semester, the student will receive a thirty percent (30%) of SJS tuition and fees, excluding application fees and deposit. 
  • After this time period, there will be no refunds given.
  • If a student withdraws by providing written notice before the end of the first week of classes, the student will receive an eighty percent (80%) refund of Session 1 tuition, excluding fees, and full tuition and fees for Session 2.
  • If a student withdraws by providing written notice before the end of the second week of classes, the student will receive a fifty percent (50%) refund of Session 1 tuition, excluding fees, and full tuition and fees for Session 2.
  • If a student withdraws by providing written notice before the end of the third week of classes, the student will receive a twenty percent (20%) refund of Session 1 tuition, excluding fees, and full tuition and fees for Session 2.
  • If a student withdraws by providing written notice after the third week of classes, the student will receive no refund for Session 1, and full tuition and fees for Session 2, excluding the SJS programming fee, if applicable.*

*If a student completes four or more sessions in a row at CESL, they may take one session break from CESL while maintaining an F‐1 status. Students may travel outside the US during that time, leave the US after 60 days or resume their study at CESL. Students eligible for a break will not receive a refund for Session 2 fees.

  • If a student withdraws by providing written notice before the end of the first week of classes, the student will receive an eighty percent (80%) refund of tuition, excluding fees.
  • If a student withdraws by providing written notice before the end of the second week of classes, the student will receive a fifty percent (50%) refund of tuition, excluding fees.
  • If a student withdraws by providing written notice before the end of the third week of classes, the student will receive a twenty percent (20%) refund of tuition, excluding fees.
  • After the third week of classes, there will be no refunds given.
  • Full refund of tuition and fees, excluding health insurance and New International Student Orientation (NISO fee, so long as the student withdraws from the University of Oklahoma by providing written notice by the end of the second week of classes (first week in the summer).
  • After the second week of classes (first week in the summer), there will be no refunds given.
