The OU EDI Pittsburgh Institute Is Moving Forward as Planned (April 2-7)

The OU EDI Board has evaluated the current climate regarding Covid-19 and has decided:

  • OU EDI is moving full steam ahead with plans for the Pittsburgh in-person event
  • We will work with the venue to provide enhanced health and safety measures
  • OU EDI and the venue expect all attending to follow safety protocols, and will enforce adherence for the safety of all involved

Many factors were considered, primarily:

  1. Our success enacting protocols at our recent Fall 2021 in-person Institute,
  2. Increased societal adaptation to Covid (through vaccinations, testing, precautions), and
  3. Projected future disease trends,

We realize this is an individual decision based on personal circumstances.  Though we feel it unlikely, other entities (University, governing authorities, host facility) could enact policies that change this decision.  If that were to happen, a full credit or refund would be issued.

COVID-19 Safety Information and Release

COVID-19 and its variants (“COVID-19”) is a contagious disease that is spread mainly by person-to-person contact, which can lead to illness and/or death. The University of Oklahoma (“University”) has worked with the venue to provide enhanced health and safety measures—for you, other attendees, exhibitors, and staff. However, the University cannot guarantee those in attendance will not become infected with COVID-19.   An inherent risk of exposure exists in any public place where people are present.

Those participating in this event must follow all protocols from the University, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the host facility, and governing authorities.  You acknowledge that participation is voluntary, and understand it brings risk and assume responsibility for your own well-being.  You understand, agree, and hereby consent that your failure or disregard to follow all protocols during your attendance is sufficient grounds to be excluded from attending the event by University or a facility authority, and consent in advance to leave and exit the event, without protest or refund, upon request by University or a facility authority due to your refusal to follow said protocols.

I have read and understand the above warning concerning COVID-19. The conference/training is of such value to me that I accept the risk of being exposed to, contracting, and/or spreading COVID-19 in order to attend in person.
