Some potential and registered participants for the OU Economic Development Institute (Ft Worth, October 23-28) have sought additional information related to COVID-19.   Here is what we’ve shared, which we hope addresses questions you may also have:

  • OU EDI is moving forward with plans for an in-person event
  • We will work with the venue to provide enhanced health and safety measures
  • OU EDI and the venue expect all attending to follow safety protocols, and will enforce adherence for the safety of all involved

Below is the COVID-19 Safety Information and Release all registrants began receiving August 16, 2021, which may provide additional details you need.

COVID-19 and its variants (“COVID-19”) is an extremely contagious disease that is spread mainly by person-to-person contact, which can lead to severe illness and/or death. The University of Oklahoma (“University”) has worked with the venue to provide enhanced health and safety measures—for you, other attendees, exhibitors, and staff. However, the University cannot guarantee that its participants, volunteers, partners, or others in attendance will not become infected with COVID-19. You must follow all posted instructions while participating in University events and activities. An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present.

I hereby acknowledge that my participation in University events and activities is solely voluntary, I understand that it brings risk and I do hereby assume responsibility for my own well-being. I will follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”) guidance, and all posted instructions while participating in University events and activities. I understand, agree, and hereby consent that my failure or disregard to follow all protocols in effect and required by University, CDC, the facility provider. and/or governing authorities during my attendance at University event is sufficient grounds to be excluded from attending the event by University or a facility authority, and I hereby consent in advance to leave and exit the event, without protest or refund, upon request by University or a facility authority due to my refusal to follow said protocols.

I have read and understand the above warning concerning COVID-19. The conference/training is of such value to me that I accept the risk of being exposed to, contracting, and/or spreading COVID-19 in order to attend in person.
