We know many of our alumni want to keep up with current and developing events at their alma mater, so we launched this newsletter to help them do just that. This newsletter will feature current students, program updates, alumni success stories and faculty members. WRITING LESSON PLANS FROM THE EDGE OF SPACE

Hubbard’s classrooms challenge the status quo every day. Rather than be met by a lengthy lecture or PowerPoint presentation, students taking Hubbard’s courses engage in extraordinary discussions, which often revolve around one of Hubbard’s dozens of “go to” stories of his experiences flying the U-2, T-37, or KC-135 aircraft.

Prestigious Scholarship

OU Extended Campus School of Aviation Studies Professional Pilot senior Cameron Morgan received a $5,000 Advanced Flight Training Scholarship at the 2019 National Gay Pilots Association (NGPA) Industry Expo in Palm Springs, California, on Friday, February 2, 2019.

Morgan received one of only two Advanced Flight Training Scholarships presented at the expo, both sponsored by Delta Airlines in partnership with the NGPA, as well as an all-expense paid trip to the Industry Expo to receive the award.

FAA Center of Excellence

In August 2016, the FAA awarded a new Center of Excellence to the University of Oklahoma, Wichita State University, and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. The COE includes 26 academic members and 45+ industry partners responsible for conducting research and development on technical training for air traffic controllers, aviation safety inspectors, engineers, pilots and technicians. The COE also examines human factors issues such as changes in learner expectations and best practices for innovation technologies in training a new generation of learners.
