Sooner Flight Academy will host a day camp featuring the Wonderful World of Wind Science at Max Westheimer Airport in Norman on Friday, Oct. 5, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for children in 2nd - 6th grade.
During the camp—which coincides with Fall Break at Norman Public Schools—campers will learn about the forces that create wind and the many uses of wind.
“Using the scientific method, students will observe, predict, measure and utilize the force of wind,” said Dawn Machalinski, Sooner Flight Academy Program Manager. “The day will be full of fun, hands-on activities, sure to bring out the scientist in every student.”

Activities will include flying kites, creating windsocks and building wind energy generators—items that each student will be able to take home so that they can engage in their own experiments.
The cost to attend the day camp is $60 per student, which includes take-home educational materials. Students will need to bring a sack lunch, but snacks and water will be provided.
