Pretty In Pink - Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness

Pretty In Pink - Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness

Last Saturday, Feb. 19, the OU women’s basketball team hosted rival Texas at its annual Pack the Place Pink night. Decked out in pink uniforms, the Sooner women used the day to honor the Kay Yow Cancer Fund and to boost breast cancer awareness. Every fan who attended the game was given a special pink t-shirt. Items such as signed jerseys, basketballs and shoes were auctioned off, with proceeds going toward the Kay Yow Fund.

This special event was sponsored in part by OU Outreach, in which the College of Liberal Studies falls. CLS Associate Dean Dr. Martha Banz and Outreach Associate Vice President Dr. Richard Little, at right, were on hand at the game to represent us.

Building a strong sense of community is part of Outreach’s mission. Throughout the year, Outreach offers numerous community services designed to enhance the quality of life for area residents. Pack the Place Pink is just one of them!

Other than the “feel good” side of assisting with these programs, why does Outreach take part? Because Outreach and CLS cater to working adults, we want to be involved in projects that are important to you and your families. We understand the importance of creating a welcoming, fun environment for your families. We get involved because if it’s important to you, then it’s important to us.

Oh, and by the way, the Sooners dominated the Longhorns, 91-62.

Update: The College of Liberal Studies was renamed the College of Professional and Continuing Studies in 2017.
