The University of Oklahoma Outreach Marketing and Communication garnered three platinum and gold awards in the Hermes Creative Awards. Winners were announced Tuesday, April 27.
Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional materials and programs, and emerging technologies. AMCP judges are industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry. There were over 3,600 entries from throughout the United States and other countries in the Hermes Creative Awards 2010 competition from more than 1,300 companies and institutions.
“I’m extremely excited about these not just for the well-deserved recognition for our marketing department, but because these were strategic marketing awards, which makes them all the more special to receive,” said Dr. James P. Pappas, Vice President of University Outreach and Dean of the College of Liberal Studies (CLS).
Winning a Platinum Award for ‘Writing: Publication Overall’ was Vantage Point, the College of Liberal Studies faculty and alumni magazine. The issue was dubbed the “Special Distance Issue” and focused on distance learners around the world completing their undergraduate and graduate degrees 100% online. Royce Young, writer, Melinda Russell, graphic designer, and Susan Grossman, CLS, contributed to the issue.
Winning a Gold Award in ‘Electronic Media: Website Overall’ was the new Web site for the Association for Continuing Higher Education (ACHE) Web site, designed and developed by OU Outreach webmaster, Bonny Million. A site redesign was requested by Dr. James P. Pappas, Vice President of OU Outreach, who serves as ACHE’s Executive Vice President.
Also taking a Gold Award in “Marketing Collateral: Specialty Item” was a unique OU Outreach branded bottle of hand sanitizer that was given out to all OU Outreach staff at this year’s State of CCE. This item was strategic in this year’s “Organizational Fitness: Striving for Wellness and Productivity” theme in focusing on healthy lifestyles.
“We are honored and excited to receive these prestigious awards and have the efforts of our marketing team recognized,” said Elizabeth Sieg, Director of Outreach Marketing & Communication.
