OU Extended Campus Online Programs Make U.S. News Top 10 Once Again

OU Extended Campus continues to be recognized nationally for being one of the top colleges in the nation to earn an online degree.

U.S. News & World Report unveiled its “2020 Best Online Programs” list Jan. 14, and OU Extended Campus landed in the Top 10 for the fourth consecutive year.

“The competition is fierce, and remaining in the Top 10 for multiple ranking areas is acknowledgement of the high caliber of our online programs.”  - Martha Banz, interim dean and associate provost, OU Extended Campus

The list, an analysis of U.S. higher education options for nontraditional learners, named OU Extended Campus No. 7 among best online bachelor’s programs for 2020 and No. 8 among best online graduate criminal justice programs, both up one spot from last year.

OU Extended Campus was also ranked No. 5 for best online programs for veterans, and the Master of Science in Criminal Justice ranked No. 6 for best online graduate criminal justice programs for veterans, also up one spot from last year.

Martha Banz, interim dean and associate provost for OU Extended Campus, said being ranked in the Top 10 for the fifth consecutive year is testament to the quality of OU Extended Campus programs.

“The competition is fierce, and remaining in the Top 10 for multiple ranking areas is acknowledgement of the high caliber of our online programs,” Banz said. “Making an OU education accessible to nontraditional students has been central to our college’s mission for more than 50 years, and this designation is a profound tribute to the dedication of our faculty and staff.”

To help nontraditional students in their college search, this year’s list ranked U.S. online degree programs based on factors unique to working adults, including student engagement, faculty credentials and training, technology and services, and expert opinion. More than 1,600 online degree programs across varying disciplines were evaluated – an all-time high.

In addition to the OU Extended Campus programs, OU ranked No. 55 for Best Online Master’s Business Programs (non-MBA), moving up from last year’s No. 70 ranking, and the OU Health Sciences Center ranked No. 66 for Best Online Master’s in Nursing Programs.

OU Extended Campus has been bringing the excellence of OU’s academic and credit-related programs to nontraditional students, including service members, veterans and their families since 1961. Because of these high-quality programs, OU Extended Campus has become internationally recognized in higher education for meeting the needs of adult learners.
