Museum Studies Alum Publishes Historical Book about Enid, Oklahoma


Cover of book on EnidMuseum Studies graduate Glen V. McIntyre recently published a pictorial history book, Enid: 1893-1945,as part of the Images of America series by Arcadia Publishing. This is McIntyre’s third book in the series and features more than 200 vintage images of the Enid, Oklahoma area and provides readers with a unique opportunity to connect to the history that helped shaped the city and surrounding areas.

When asked what lasting impact he hoped his book will leave, McIntyre said, “I want to give people a better understanding of the foundations of Enid and how many of the present day institutions have their basis in the efforts of both the early day pioneers and the first generation that followed them to build what Enid is today.”

McIntyre recently retired after working 17 years at the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center in Enid; many of the images included within his book are from the center’s archives. McIntyre also wrote Kingfisher and Kingfisher Countyand Guthrie and Logan Countyfor Arcadia Publishing.
