OU Extended Campus aspires to be a leading global force in making our degrees and programs available to students and organizations around the world, transforming each person we touch through their learning experience.
But how do we do that? What do we strive to achieve on a daily basis to carry that out?
During a college-wide meeting last week, OU Extended Campus Interim Dean Martha Banz reminded us of our mission:
OU Extended Campus provides access to transformational, world-class University of Oklahoma degrees, certifications and programs for a diverse group of learners.
“We provide educational programming for those who otherwise would not be able to access it at all,” Banz said. “We do that with the intent of changing people’s lives.”
That mission includes three important words: access, transformation and world-class.
“We provide educational programming for those who otherwise would not be able to access it at all,” Banz said. “We do that with the intent of changing people’s lives.”
That means we’re going to work hard to offer programs you can’t get anywhere else, delivered by world-class instructors. As Banz says, “We expect to be the best of the best.”
These expectations are not only met, but they’re reflected by continually earning high rankings from U.S. News & World Report.
Just as important as what we do at OU Extended Campus is how we do it. Our core values are what drive us toward our mission.
Those six core values are:
- We are STUDENT-CENTERED. Our students are fundamental to all we do, so every decision and action we make affects our students’ learning experiences.
- We are SERVICE-ORIENTED. We provide exceptional service for our students, clients and each other.
- We are INCLUSIVE. We are strengthened through diversity, and we actively seek to embrace and learn from all.
- We are QUALITY-DRIVEN. Students learn best when they are engaged, challenged and supported, and we seek to provide an optimal combination of those factors throughout all our program offerings.
- We are INNOVATIVE. We constantly search for the most effective ways to serve and engage our unique student populations, and to do so, we encourage forward thinking, creativity and initiative.
- We act and relate with INTEGRITY. We operate honestly, ethically, transparently and respectfully.
Have you noticed your colleagues implementing these core values? We want to know. Please share your experiences here.
