The OU Extended Campus School of Aviation Studies is committed to providing onsite and online continuing education opportunities to enhance the knowledge and skills of today’s professionals. Our short courses and seminars better prepare individuals for the growing demands of the aviation, aerospace, and defense industry. This program also provides executive coaching, mentoring, and peer-to-peer networking to ensure professionals excel in key management roles. All courses are taught by subject matter experts with strong industry experience. An official OU Certificate of Completion and CEUs will be granted.

Business Development for Federal Governmnet Contracting

The purpose of this seminar program is to prepare undergraduate and graduate students as well as entry-level professionals to identify and provide sound solutions to the business development process used for federal government contracting in the aviation, aerospace, and defense industries.  At the end of this program, participants will better understand the components of pursuing and winning federal business. The format of this course is experiential to include various group exercises and discussions. Participants are required to complete pre-course assignments. An official OU Certificate of Completion and 0.9 CEUs will be granted.

Essentials in Leadership and Management

Date: November 15-16, 2019

Lead Instructor:  Lindy Ritz

Location: Norman, Oklahoma

This seminar program aims to develop critical thinking, decision-making, change management, and high-performance leadership skills for individuals in the aviation, aerospace, and defense areas. The program includes a required networking dinner. The course focuses on participants deepening their understanding of the impact of leadership and communication styles in the workplace. This seminar is unique in that participants are able to receive immediate feedback from subject matter experts for all group exercises and discussions to include real-world case studies. This feedback is directly applicable to address workplace needs post course. Participants are required to complete pre-course assignments. The program includes a required networking dinner the first evening of the seminar. An official OU Certificate of Completion and CEUs will be granted.

sUAS Remote Pilot License Test Prep

Date:October 17, October 24, October 31, and November 7 from 6 p.m. to 10 pm

Lead Instructor:  George Hicks

Location: 1928 Goddard Avenue, Norman, OK 73069 (NC210 Building, 1st Floor, Monroney Classroom

The purpose of this seminar program is to prepare participants to pass the FAA’s sUAS initial written Aeronautical Knowledge Test, which is required to obtain a Remote Pilot Certificate and operate a commercial drone. The 15-hour course covers history, theory of operations and a basic introduction to drone technology and consists of pre-read materials, in-class lectures and a practice exam at the end of the course. Students will leave the class not only prepared to pass the Aeronautical Knowledge Test, but with a better understanding of safe and professional drone operation. An official OU Certificate of Completion and CEUs will be granted.
