Probationary Admission

Applicants who do not have at least 24 letter-graded college credits and an overall cumulative 2.0 GPA or higher can be considered for admission to OU Extended Campus.

Applicants who have one to twenty-three college credits

Applicants who have one to twenty-three college credits can still qualify for probationary admission by submitting supplemental documentation with your application. Complete steps one through four for probationary admissions.

First-time freshman with military experience

Applicants who have no previous college experience, but have military experience, can still qualify for probationary admission by submitting supplemental documentation (including military transcripts) with their application. Complete steps one through four for probationary admissions.

First-time freshman with NO college credits or military experience 

OU Extended Campus is unable to process your application until you have attended at least one college/university. First-time freshmen can apply to OU’s Norman campus and successfully earn 24 college credits before transferring to Extended Campus.

The Norman campus offers online, hybrid or on-site classes.


To apply for probationary admission

Step one: complete an OU undergraduate application

Step two: pay the non-refundable $40 application fee by credit or debit card.

Credit and debit payments are processed through the application.

Step three: send official transcripts

Official transcripts must be submitted directly by the institution, and may either be mailed to the address listed below in a sealed envelope or sent electronically to pacsregistration@ou.edu. Transcripts submitted through any other method of delivery cannot be accepted as official.

  • High school transcript or GED certificate (Applies only to applicants who have less than 24 college credits)
  • ALL current or previously attended college or university transcripts
  • Military transcripts, if applicable
    • Joint Services Transcripts (JST), Community College of the Air Force (CCAF), and Air University transcripts

Step four: upload supplemental materials in the application

  • Statement of goals
    • Tell us about yourself. For example, applicants can write about their goals, why it is a good time to return to college and how they plan to be successful in this program.
  • Résumé
    • You may submit a professional résumé that you have used in prior occasions. Please make sure to include relevant employment information, accomplishments and achievements, and volunteer and community activities that can attest to your work ethic and commitment to completing personal goals.
  • Two letters of recommendation 
    • Professional recommendations (i.e., from past or present supervisor) stating how you will fit into a university setting are preferred. Letters of recommendation should not come from a family member


Application processing

Your application and supplemental materials will be reviewed by a committee for admission consideration. Admissions will notify you by email when your decision letter is available to view in ApplyWeb/CollegeNet account.
