Professor Religious Studies
OU Extended Campus School of Integrative and Cultural Studies
Nina Livesey is a Professor of Religious Studies for OU Extended Campus. She received her PhD in Religious Studies from Southern Methodist University in Dallas and holds a master's degree in Theological Studies from Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa.
Dr. Livesey has been teaching online courses for OU Extended Campus since fall 2006 and began with “The Bible as Literature,” a course she continues to teach. She is a published author of multiple books and numerous peer-reviewed articles. Her area of expertise is Pauline Studies, yet her interests include Christian origins, biblical interpretations, the New Testament and rhetoric, women in scripture, and religion and the environment.
Dr. Livesey is a fellow and active member of Westar Institute, an organization dedicated to religious literacy. Along with Dr. Clayton Jefford, she co-edits Westar’s scholarly journal Forum. She serves on the steering committee of Westar’s Christianity Seminar and formerly co-chaired the committee. She has given public presentations nationwide on the subject of religious literacy.
