Admissions FAQ

Have questions? Start here to find the answers.

Are online programs the same as the programs offered on the University of Oklahoma campus?

Yes. The University of Oklahoma’s online bachelor’s programs are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and are created by university staff and faculty. Graduates of online programs receive the same degree designation as students who attend class on campus.

How long does the admissions process take?

Once Admissions receives all application materials, including, but not limited to, transcripts, they usually reach a decision within one week.

What are the required application materials?

Materials required are the online application and ALL official transcripts from previously attended institutions.

Will my hours transfer to OU?

Credit hours from a regionally accredited institution will transfer to OU.

Please note: OU rarely accepts or recognizes nationally accredited hours.

Do I need an associate degree to apply?

No, you do not need an associate degree to be admitted.

Will military credits transfer to OU?

Depending on your military experience and education, you may be eligible to receive academic credits applied toward your OU degree.

What if my last school has all of my prior transfer work, do I still need to submit official transcripts from all institutions I attended?

Yes. OU requires ALL transcripts from ALL previously attended institutions.

I previously attended OU. Do I need to submit an official transcript?

If OU was the last school attended, you do not need to provide transcripts for OU or any institution prior to attending the university. If you attended a university/college after OU, you will need to submit those transcripts to College of Professional and Continuing Studies Registration and Records.

When can I start classes?

Our programs are offered year-round and in eight-week increments. You can apply to begin in the fall (August or October), spring (January or March), and summer.

The admissions committee operates under a rolling admission process, and admissions may continue until two weeks before the start of classes. The committee strives to respond to all applicants within two weeks from the time a completed application is submitted.
